So close, yet so far

by Alvaro Lima

Sunday 1st April represented a very important event that occurred over 2,000 years ago. Jesus resurrected. His resurrection reflected His great power and just like He changed many people’s lives many years ago, He wants to do the same to our lives today.

“Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem.  They were talking with each other about all these things that had happened.  While they communed, and reasoned together, Jesus Himself drew near and went with them.  But their eyes were kept from recognizing Him.” (Luke 24:13–15).

In biblical times, the disciples knew of God, but they did not know Him personally and this is reflected in the situation that many people face today. Many people hear about Jesus’ experiences and even experience His power in their lives, but they do not have a personal relationship with Him. As a result, they struggle to keep their faith in Him and His ability to change their lives. They recognise Jesus as the Healer, the Deliverer, the Miracle Maker, but unfortunately, they fail to know Him on a personal one-to-one level.

When you have a true relationship with God, your character and entire mind-set changes and you develop a whole new perspective on life.

However, for you to experience this, you need to give your life to God and live according to His will. God is ready to show His power in people’s lives, but only to those who value their relationship with Him.
