Did you know that about 8 Christians per day are killed because of their faith? A further 260 million Christians live in places where they can’t profess their faith freely.
What many people are unaware of, is the fact that there is no other faith more persecuted than Christianity. This has been going on for centuries; from the formation of the Primitive Church. However, this has become more intensive and has reached the four corners of the world. What is this showing us? This is showing us exactly what the Lord Jesus prophesied: We are at the beginning of sorrows and things will only get worse (See Matthew 24:1-8).
Whilst many Christians today are leaving the presence of God for trivial reasons, at this very moment, there are Christians suffering all sorts of persecutions in places where they are not even allowed to keep a single Bible. Despite the difficulties, they still hold on to their faith.
“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake.” (Matthew 24:9).
For this reason, we have to be prepared for what is coming next. Jesus warns us that as the end approaches, many terrible things will occur. “Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.” (Matthew 24:11 – 12).
That means, when it comes to our salvation, we have to be more radical than we’ve ever been in order to protect it at all costs. Whatever we rejected yesterday (thoughts, ideas, etc.) we must also reject today. If we don’t, we can lose our salvation. We may even have led an exemplary life for fifty years, but if in the last moment, we abandon our faith, take off our armour and relax spiritually, the inevitable will happen: We will fall!
How many people are not seeking God with intensity anymore? How many are not praying like they used to? How many have devalued the importance of the Holy Spirit in their lives? Nothing is more important or greater than the Holy Spirit, which is the exceedingly great reward. He is the One that gives us the strength to persevere and be saved. Think about it… Nowadays, everyday is a battle, it’s war! If with the Holy Spirit, things are tough, imagine without Him!
Having the Holy Spirit is not about attaining something luxurious or “showing off.” It’s about having the Helper inside of us to guide and help us remain saved at a time when iniquity is abounding.
The truth is, only God knows the deepest thoughts of our hearts. He knows if iniquitous thoughts are rooted inside of us or whether we are frustrated about the material things we don’t have. We must understand that whatever is taking the place of the Blesser in our lives has to be expelled because He is eager to reward us with His Spirit, and to reward those who are seeking Him with all of their hearts.
This eternal reward is infinitely greater than any blessing this world can offer. Yes, injustices will occur, hardships will arise and the oppression of Christians will escalate. However, when we have the Holy Spirit and we honour Him, we will endure until the end.
“But he who endures to the end shall be saved.” (Matthew 24:13).
Are you ready for what is to come? Our Lord Jesus is giving us another opportunity to surrender wholeheartedly to Him and receive the greatest treasure of all: The Holy Spirit. We cannot afford to wait for the next warning to make a decision. Maybe for some who read this article, this will be their last chance.
