The Word of God teaches us that if we lack wisdom we should ask freely and it will be given to us (see James 1:5). However, there are 2 kinds of wisdom: The earthly and the divine wisdom. The divine wisdom is associated with the practice of the Word of God.

“Surely I have taught you statutes and judgments, just as the Lord my God commanded me, that you should act according to them in the land which you go to possess.” (Deuteronomy 4:5).

The practice of the Word of God will make us wise and lead us to conquer our salvation. If we do not practice the word and obey God’s teachings, we will be one of those who will be left behind when the time comes.

“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock…” (Matthew 7:24).

The house represents our lives. Those who base their lives on the principles of God will face hardships and battles, but they will remain unshakeable and will stand strong no matter the circumstance. If we don’t build on the Word (the Rock), we will collapse in the face of adversity.

Being wise is not about having a high IQ or extensive knowledge about everything. Unfortunately, this is what the majority are led to believe. How many people nowadays have a high intelligence quotient but yet make unfavourable choices in their lives? Think about it…What made the 5 wise virgins wise? They had the extra oil and this led them to be saved (see Matthew 25).

As Christians, we must remember that we are all passing by and this is our temporary home. We don’t have to be one of those who build on the sand and suffer loss—the loss of our salvation. Instead, we must choose to be like the 5 wise virgins and invest in our relationship with God by seeking Him daily.

“But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” (Matthew 7:26 – 27).

The reality is that in this decade only those who are wise will resist and persevere until the end because as we get closer to the end, things will only get tougher. Have you been building on the Rock? Or have you been like the majority? There are 2 paths to follow and we choose whether to be wise like Abel or foolish like Cain.

Throughout this month of February, we will delve deeper into the subject of the Spirit of Wisdom and seek the wisdom that comes from God. Don’t miss it!
