“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” (Proverbs 9:10)
To fear God, is to respect, obey and revere Him in EVERYTHING. Where lack of fear exists, there is lack of wisdom; we cannot separate both. That’s why the fear of God must be practiced at all times because once we have it, we won’t displease God even when no one is watching. Indeed, those who fear God maintain this fear inside of them and obey Him no matter where they are.
Have you been living a life of obedience? Have you been making sure you are living according to His Word? Take the example of Zacchaeus. He was a thief and tax collector that didn’t fear God, however when he decided to abandon his sins and humble himself, he received salvation. In other words, he became wise (see Luke 19:1-10). For this reason, we can’t distance ourselves from the wisdom of God, instead we must distance ourselves from what makes us foolish: lies, promiscuity, stealing, grudges and all forms of sin.
The truth is that the further away we are from God, the less wise we will become and the more inclined we will be to making decisions that are not in accordance to God’s will. As Christians, we need to have the fear of God and His wisdom to deal with the matters of life in the best possible way. When we are like this, He will transform our lives and lead us to gain salvation and consequently eternal life.
Have you been preserving the fear of God inside of you? Remember: The fear of the Lord is to have awareness of doing the right thing even when no one is looking because He, God is always looking.
God bless you.
