“Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them.” (Colossians 3:5-7).
The destination of our souls is in our hands. It is not up to anyone else, not even God. We have all been called but it is up to us to make ourselves chosen… How? By deciding not to be Christians who only live by appearance. We have to stop resisting God, instead we must let Him shape and mould us so that His will can be done in our lives. Our decision to follow God will certainly come at a price; we may lose friends, family members and assets which will not be easy, but the truth is, we can afford to lose everything but we can’t afford to lose our salvation. We must think of ourselves as souls who have the power to decide where we will spend eternity.
Our Lord Jesus certainly tried to awaken people so that they would understand the importance of their salvation. He taught many lessons and spoke different parables; He alerted the disciples and He is still doing the same thing today. But as the Word of God teaches us, some people will not heed the truth; they will turn their backs on Jesus by hanging on to their sinful lives (see 1 Timothy 4:1-5). Many are those who are still holding on to grudges, hatred, anger, etc. They are losing the opportunity to have a true and long-lasting relationship with God. Why? Because they haven’t made the decision to “kill” their old nature once and for all.
“But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him…” (Colossians 3:8-10).
This is the decision Judas should have made. He should have hanged his sinful nature. His shame wasn’t due to lack of words because he knew the truth. When we know the truth and we continue living in sin, we will reap the consequences just like he did. Sadly, many are still attached to the world and that’s why their lives are still stuck. We may not be committing a grotesque or capital sin such as murder or adultery, however having bad eyes is enough to be disapproved by God.
For this reason, we have to be ready. The Second Coming is iminent and on Judgement Day, we won’t have a chance anymore. The signs of the end times are visible (see Matthew 24) and you don’t need to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. You can be at the right place, which is at God’s side so that you will not suffer the consequences of the wrath of God.
It’s time to leave behind what has been separating you from God, but the choice is yours. Are you going to be a vessel of honour or dishonour? Are you going to choose eternal life or eternal condemnation? Which church from the Book of Revelation are you going to be? The Dead Church? The Lukewarm Church? The Corrupt Church? The Faithful Church? (See Revelation 2-3).
If you are reading this, then there is still hope for you. You can still make your decision today!
