“The eyes of faith.”
Day 15 – (Genesis 21)
1 And the Lord visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as He had spoken. 2 For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.
The Lord not only healed Sarah of her infertility, but He also transformed her organs, making them as fit as those of a young woman. The same happened to Abraham.
A very important point we must note is God’s faithfulness in fulfilling His Word, regardless of the circumstances. Those who want to learn how to live by faith must understand that we must never judge the facts by our physical eyes: instead, we must use our spiritual eyes, the eyes of faith.
“While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:8)
The promise made to Abraham started to unfold after twenty-four years. It had been on the way all along, although to the human eye it took very long to arrive. But it did arrive! God’s Word is always fulfilled, sooner or later.
God visited Sarah not by her spiritual merits, but by Abraham’s. He kept his faith in the promises of God, even when everything, humanly speaking, seemed lost. Abraham was indeed a quality seed.
The Word of God is unfruitful to those who live by a physical vision. The physical eyes show the unfavourable facts to the eyes of faith, and thus a conflict starts within the person.
Are you going to listen to the information given to you by your physical eyes, or are you going to pay attention to the eyes of faith? Only you can decide!
