“From faith to faith…”
DAY 2 (Genesis 13)
1 Then Abram went up from Egypt, he and his wife and all that he had, and Lot with him, to the South. 2 Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold. 3 And he went on his journey from the South as far as Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai, 4 to the place of the altar which he had made there at first. And there Abram called on the name of the Lord. 14 And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are—northward, southward, eastward, and westward; 15 for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever. 16 And I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; so that if a man could number the dust of the earth, then your descendants also could be numbered. 17 Arise, walk in the land through its length and its width, for I give it to you.” 18 Then Abram moved his tent, and went and dwelt by the terebinth trees of Mamre, which are in Hebron, and built an altar there to the Lord.
Abraham had the understanding of the concept of sacrifice, he knew that if God was with Him he would have success wherever he went, that’s why the Altar would always be present in his journeys, he would not give a step forward before building an Altar and sacrificing to God. Abraham lived his life from sacrifice to sacrifice, from faith to faith, continuously.
Sometimes people approach us, especially in the time of the Campaign of Israel and say: “I’ve already sacrificed before, so this campaign is not for me, it is for the newcomers…” Because of this mentality, many are those who are living from the glory of the past, they talk about what God did in their lives 10, 15, 20 years ago! The moment they stopped sacrificing, their lives stopped moving forward.
Just like a body without spirit is dead, faith without works is also dead! The spirit is what gives life to the body, and sacrifice is what gives life to faith, sacrifice is the spirit of faith! You may be a Christian for many years and have a faith that can move mountains, however, if you are not willing to sacrifice continuously like Abraham did, you will be physically alive, but spiritually dead!
Decide to go back to the path of sacrifice, and if you are already there, don’t turn to the right or to the left. Let’s continue in this journey of faith, sacrificing continuously, from faith to faith!
