How to find God

Many people have been seeking God, searching for answers, going from church to church; but, instead of finding Him, their lives are only going from bad to worse. What could be missing? Why is it that they cannot find Him? Has God abandoned them?

The real question is, have they truly been searching for God? Or, have they been searching for a blessing?

Here is the answer:

‘And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.’ (Jeremiah 29:13)

Wanting God is not enough. You must do your part and search for Him with all your heart. If you want to find Him, your heart must be entirely His.

You must be ready to surrender everything that is in your heart: people, your plans, your future, your career, your job, your assets, your pride, your past hurts, etc. In short, your life.

If you are not ready to do this, you will never find Him.

Receiving a blessing; experiencing inner healing; acquiring a job, money and a house, getting married: all of these things are NOT finding God. You find Him when you receive the greatest blessing of all – the Holy Spirit.

More than just mere words, your attitudes and actions show where your heart is. When you are faced with a situation that tempts you to do what is wrong, but you choose to do right because you want to please Him, you are showing Him that He is more important than anything or anyone else.

What are you ready to give up in order to find Him? What do you cherish and love more than anything and anyone else? Whatever it may be, give it up for God and you will find Him.
