There is no immunization against emotion because this virus is already inside the heart of every human being. We need immunity from its urges and desires. How do we do that?
Do not feed the desires of your heart
Not all feelings are evil, but you should evaluate whether or not your feelings are interfering with your ability to discern what is right and to do it. If they are, you should say “no” to your heart and DO what is right.
E.g. Someone does or says something that offends you and your heart tells you to stop speaking with this person, which is normal. Forgiving him would be a sign of weakness. But you KNOW what Jesus says: “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses,” Mark 11.25.
At this moment you should say to your heart: “I don’t care what you want. I’m going to DO what is right, what my God commands.” Then, going against your emotions, pray for and forgive the person who offended you and begin treating them as if nothing ever happened.
Use your faith and push emotions to the side
Even Jesus cried when Lazarus died (John 11.35), but at that very moment, He pushed emotions to the side and acted on His faith to raise His friend from the dead. He said: “Take away the stone.” This stone is the emotions that are between faith and our victory, between you and the miracle.
Don’t expect your emotions to help your belief
Jesus said, “Because you have seen Me, you believe.” What is more important to you—what you feel and see, or what is written in the Word of God?
“The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD”. Isaiah 11.2.
Can you detect any spirit of feelings in this verse?
